La Odisea de Kazantzakis como obra cretense y modernista

La Odisea de Nikos Kazantzakis se publicó por primera vez en 1938 y desde entonces se ha considerado principalmente como un largo poema pasado de moda. Al mismo tiempo, sus últimas novelas se han vinculado con precisión a la ficción modernista y se han establecido conexiones entre la poesía épica y el modernismo. Este artículo asume que los argumentos presentados por los académicos que se ocupan de estos temas también pueden aplicarse a la nueva Odisea. Así, este trabajo profundiza en algunas de las estrategias modernistas que el autor adopta en este poema: principalmente el uso de la ficción y el método mítico, y la asimilación y manipulación de elementos cretenses —en su mayoría— minoicos. Este enfoque no solo revela más paralelos entre la Odisea de Kazantzakis y el Modernismo europeo de lo que se suponía anteriormente, sino que también proporciona una explicación para el desarrollo de tales elementos en las novelas posteriores.
