In the set of work and thought by José Ortega y Gasset (1883-1955), the political field(in its widest sense) is intimate and deeply linked to his philosophical reflexion. Hence to under-stand the sense of the political freedom in Ortega, it becomes always necessary to bear in mindhow this political freedom inserts itself into his comprehension of philosophy as a metaphysics ofhuman life, according towhich, the latter constitutes that radical reality to which all other realitiesare sent: politics, amongst them. With the previous facts exposed, the paper will tackle certainideas and key concepts that allow accounting for the sense and scope of the political freedom inOrtega's thought
